Marjoram (Spanish) Essential Oil is also known as Mastic Thyme Essential Oil. It is a thin colourless oil extracted from the leaves and flowering tops of Thymus Mastichina by steam distillation. Spanish Marjoram grows in the wild throughout the Mediterranean, as well as being cultivated in Spain. Traditionally used in infusions for winter health issues, its appearance it is more like Thyme than Marjoram, coming from a different species than Sweet Marjoram. It has a strong herbal scent.
Spanish Marjoram Essential oil is valued for its immune response boosting qualities, particularly for colds, coughs and respiratory issues. When used in a diffuser, it is energising. What is the Difference between Spanish and Sweet Marjoram Essential Oils?
Spanish Marjoram (Thymus Mastichina) and Sweet Marjoram (Origanum majorana) are two different species of plant. Whilst Spanish Marjoram has a pungent aroma, Sweet Marjoram has a milder sweeter aroma with woody, minty notes.
